CUNY/CAT-UAE Partnership Continues
July 1, 2011

This July, for the fourth consecutive summer, the CUNY Creative Arts Team (CAT) and School of Professional Studies (SPS) are once again welcoming a group of graduates from the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU).  This year, six of the young women who have attended in the past will be enrolled in a month-long intensive, credit-bearing SPS Certificate program in Applied Theatre.   Key among the instructors will be senior CAT program staff members.  Upon successfully completing the courses, the students will receive an official CUNY Certificate and transcript documenting their academic work.  The students have already begun making their way through a hefty advance reading list.

Dr. James Mirrione, Professor, English Literature Program, UAEU College of Humanities and a CAT co-founder has spearheaded this project.  He notes of past summers, “The exposure to the tenets of drama-in-education has proven beneficial to the students, all of whom are now working as drama specialists in the United Arab Emirates.”
